Here is a somewhat rare 1969 Mustang Grande. This was the first
year for the upscale Grande package which lasted until 1973. It
makes for a great looking Mustang, but this example offers more
than just good looks; it will also run with the best of them.
This is a real code 65E Grande. Originally Silver Jade Metallic, it
has been repainted in desirable Candy Apple Red. The black vinyl
top, a signature of the Grande option, was also redone along with
the Grande badges. All chrome and trim pieces were replated or
replaced, and a Mach 1 hood scoop and hood pins were added for a
little flair. There are also new 15" wheels from US Mags along with
BF Goodrich tires. The dual chrome exhaust tips are a nice touch
too. The result is a very nice looking Mustang.
Now this car certainly is a beauty, but the real fun starts when
you fire up the 302 cubic inch V8. This is a performance built
motor that goes beyond the original F-code setup. It sounds great
and will plant you in your seat. In wears an Edelbrock aluminum
intake manifold and Holley 4-barrel carburetor, while accessories
include an electric fuel pump and MSD ignition. The transmission is
a C4 automatic that has been modified with a reverse-pattern manual
valve body (I can convert back to stock if desired). There are also
traction bars and a line lock if you want to play around. This car
will really get up and go, but it also has power steering and power
front disc brakes for a nice driving experience.
The Grande interior was as nice as you could get in a 1969 Mustang.
This one has been redone and looks fantastic. The carpeting,
headliner, door panels, and seat covers are all new. The Grande
woodgrain accents on the dash and door panels really give things a
touch of class. A nice center console was added for convenience.
Commensurate with the engine build, a tachometer was added along
with underdash gauges. There is also a modern stereo. The wipers,
heater, and defroster all work properly. The clock and rim-blow
steering wheel also work!
This reasonably priced Mustang offers a lot of bang-for-the-buck.
You don't see many 1969 Grande's, nor would you expect such
performance out of a luxury Mustang. Let yourself have some fun in
a classic and look good in the process.
