I say VERY RARE because they only made 5,049 Thunderbird Convertibles in 1966 !! You can now own a GORGEOUS Classic Car that is getting very hard to find, especially in this kind of PAMPERED - RESTORED condition, WOW ! Thousands and thousands of dollars and many, many hours were spent on the professional restoration of this ONE OWNER BEAUTY !! The car was recently restored by T-Birds West in Corvallis, Oregon and has been driven only 122 miles since the restoration was completed !! During the restoration the body was stripped to bare metal, most of the interior is brand new, brand new convertible top was installed, motor was completely rebuilt, brakes were redone with disc's up front, new ball joints and brand new Coker wide whitewall steel belted radial tires were put on. The 1966 Thunderbird convertible was the LAST & they tell me the BEST year of the fourth generation Thunderbirds and was also the LAST Thunderbird convertible produced by Ford until 2002 !! If you have never seen how the power, retractable, convertible top works on these Thunderbirds you owe it to yourself to watch the video of this car attached to this auction, TOO COOL !! We just purchased this Thunderbird from the estate of the ORIGINAL ELDERLY OREGON OWNER and as you can tell in the pictures and video it has been his pride and joy all these years for sure !! This T-Bird Convertible still retains it's correctly mounted - FACTORY ORIGINAL - driver's door mounted Thunderbird VIN data plate which is shown in a picture below. This BEAUTY is a NICE - DRY - SOLID - California - Oregon - Idaho high mountain desert - Western car since brand new and it shows !! I drove this Thunderbird for about a week as my everyday driver to and from the office and running errands as needed and I can assure you it runs and drives VERY WELL !! It cruises smoothly and easily in town and also does well when on the freeway at 75+ mph !! THIS IS A QUALITY CAR FOR SURE THAT IS READY TO DRIVE, SHOW AND ENJOY !!
At the heart of this Thunderbird Convertible is the VERY STRONG !! - APPEARS ORIGINAL - PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT !! - Ground Pounding - Code "Z" - (315 Horsepower from the factory !!) - 390 CID V8 motor in it that is running very well indeed. The motor also still retains the ORIGINAL four barrel intake manifold, ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds, ORIGINAL valve covers, ORIGINAL "390" scripted air cleaner housing and the ORIGINAL four barrel carburetor, etc. It is amazing how much power this car has, UNBELIEVABLE !! Sounds GREAT too with the factory style true dual exhaust system with dual chrome tips. The engine is backed by a SMOOTH - Code "8" - three speed "Cruise-O-Matic" automatic transmission which also functions very well. The BEAUTIFUL !! - MOSTLY ALL NEW !! - Parchment Beige and Emberglo bucket seat Thunderbird interior is in VERY NICE condition with VERY NICE Parchment Beige front bucket seats, NICE Emberglo carpeting, VERY NICE Parchment Beige rear "bucket bench" seat with folding center armrest, VERY NICE Matching Parchment Beige Vinyl door panels, NICE ORIGINAL Thunderbird steering wheel, VERY NICE ORIGINAL factory gauge clusters, VERY NICE Emberglo and chrome accented dash, VERY NICE Parchment Beige and chrome accented center console with padded center armrest, VERY NICE ORIGINAL Black and Parchment Beige dash pad with NO CRACKS !! These vehicles have an appreciative group of owners any of which would be pleased to own this one. The suspension and drive line all seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. All of the ORIGINAL Chrome and Stainless exterior body trim and moldings are in VERY NICE condition including VERY NICE ORIGINAL Chrome front and rear bumpers, VERY NICE ORIGINAL badging and VERY NICE ORIGINAL grill and headlight surrounds. Take a look at the AWESOME - Factory Original Stainless Steel Thunderbird wheel covers with NEARLY NEW Wide Whitewall Coker steel belted radial tires, boy does this combination look OUTSTANDING on this T-Bird and really give it that CLEAN - "Factory Original" - look !!
