A truly unique opportunity to own one of the most complete original AMXs available anywhere. This is a true survivor with just under 75000 original miles. This car has never been apart and is completely original. While AMXs cannot be technically described as numbers matching since the engines were not stamped with matching identification plates this one would be as this is the original matching 390 engine. Incredible documentation with the original owners manual bill of lading maintenance records period magazine articles and more. Described as the best version yet of this blend of muscle car and sports car the 1970 model was also the last true AMX. With quarter mile and 0-60 times that rivaled Corvettes of the time the AMX was and is an amazing experience to drive. The Sports Car Club of America SCCA even classed the AMX in B Production for amateur competition the same class as the Shelby GT350.
From the last and most desirable model year for the original two-seat AMX this highly optioned 1970 example features the AMX 390 engine 325 hp 425 ft-lb torque 4-speed original factory Hurst on-the-floor shifter GO Package Silver with shadow mask paint Machine 15-inch rims sidepipes leather interior power front disc brakes handling package functional hood scoop and ram-air induction system and 3.911 limited-slip. In 1970 only 4116 AMXs were built. Only 2533 had the Go Package. Only 1632 had the 390 V8 with 4 speed on the floor. Only 628 of these had the Machine Wheels still original on the car. Only 98 had leather interior and only a few of these had the Silver and Black paint. A truly unique car.
The car has also been brought back to near-showroom condition. The engine and rear end were recently rebuilt the car was repainted two years ago in the original color the leather seats redone the carb rebuilt new brakes and electronic ignition new carpeting and the bumpers rechromed. You will feel like you bought a new car when you acquire this beauty.
