1992 Ford Hooters Thunderbird 'Alan Kulwicki' in Scottsdale, AZ
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd, 2017 at Russo and Steele's 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information.
A true piece of NASCAR and motorsports history, the Alan Kulwicki #7 Hooters Thunderbird marks the upcoming 25th Anniversary of Alan Kulwicki's 1992 NASCAR Championship. It was driven by Alan to three of his four pole positions and his only two wins (Bristol & Pocono) during his 1992 Championship-winning season. Sadly, while reigning as the NASCAR Champion, Alan died in a plane crash the following 1st of April (1993), making this chassis the one in which he scored his final racing victory.
The history of this chassis, including every practice, qualifying, and race session, has been fully documented by Alan's crew chief, Paul Andrews. It sports a freshly rebuilt, period correct 750 bhp small block powerplant courtesy of Lee Schwartz, Dale Earnhardt's championship-winning engine builder. In great shape and still competitive, this well-maintained and preserved rocketship won the Monterey Pre-Reunion, was third in the 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and is welcome worldwide at significant historic/vintage motorsports events.
Phoenix International Raceway picked this car as one of the 15 Most Significant Race Cars in the first 50 years of PIR and it was placed in the track's Memory Lane display during both NASCAR 2014 race weekends, where it was a big hit with the fans in attendance. Here's your chance to own an appreciating and much-loved piece of NASCAR history built and raced by one of NASCAR's most fondly remembered champions who was taken from us far too soon.
