Riding on a completely painted Alloway chassis matching a Rat's Glass body complete with removable top, this '33 Ford Speedstar was built and painted in Luminescence Yellow at Austin's Hot Rod Shop in Orlando, Florida. In addition to flames applied by Wayne Hughes, highlights include a Ferrari leather interior by Concept Works and full Dynamat insulation, with power by an injected ZZ4 350 Chevy backed by a Lokar-shifted, high-performance 700R4 transmission.
Enhancing the output of the ZZ4 350 Chevy engine are polished aluminum heads, Imagine injection with Fast EZ EFI module, polished aluminum valve covers, with spark delivered by an MSD distributor with HEI ignition module. The driveline comprises a Lokar-shifted GM 700R4 transmission with high-performance clutches, a polished aluminum transmission cooler, and a polished Currie rear end fitted with a 4.11:1 ring and pinion and Positraction. Underpinnings include 4-wheel disc brakes with polished Wilwood calipers, chrome Heidt's IFS with rack and pinion steering, polished Aldan shocks, and chrome springs. Other mechanical features include a polished bell housing, aluminum radiator with chrome overflow reservoir, chrome 140-amp alternator (one wire), Optima "red top" battery, chrome master cylinder with proportioning valve and residual pressure values, Het Hot coated headers and exhaust pipes with polished stainless-steel Mega Flow mufflers, and an auxiliary electric cooling fan.
Refinements include a GM tilt steering wheel, AutoMeter gauge package including fuel, oil pressure, temperature, voltmeter, tach, and speedometer, and Kenwood DDX719 AM/FM/CD/DVD/Bluetooth audio with backup camera plus 4 speakers and subwoofer with Kicker amplifier. Custom touches include an electric license plate with backup camera, a real glass windshield, Hagan rearview mirrors, and an LED taillight and remote control system by Lambert's covering the doors, trunk, and keyless start. The paintwork is original from the previous owner and the engine is a crate unit with approximately 4,800 miles' use. Further work completed between 2012-2013 included the fitting of an all-new leather interior and carpeting, installation of the Kenwood audio system with backup camera, replacement of the front and rear shocks, coilovers, and suspension components, rebuilding of the transmission, replacement of the exhaust system, injection, brake system (not including calipers & pads), and installation of the remote control system. Rolling on a set of Boyd Coddington polished aluminum wheels (20-inch rear/17-inch front) with Goodyear Eagle tires, it is dynamite throughout, confirmed by its 2014 Goodguys Builder's Choice Award win!
