This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a numbers matching/collector quality example retaining the original engine, transmission, and rear end. Finished in original Red on Red, this Z/28 includes 90 percent original restored parts and 59,629 original miles verified on the title. A total of 602 Z/28s were produced in 1967 and 7199 were produced in 1968.
The paint is very slick and high quality in the original color Matador Red. I have pictures of the car during the restoration process and on a rotisserie and the bodywork looks like that it was done very well. It has new GM rear quarters. The car is as straight as a gun barrel down the sides and the door, hood, and trunk gaps are perfect. It has the correct and original rear bumper guards (all 68 Z/28s were equipped with rear bumper guards). It has the original stock flat hood (all 68 Z/28's had stock flat hoods). It has the correct front fender Z/28 emblems that were introduced in mid-March. It has the D80 rear spoiler with correctly painted wide stereo stripes painted around the Camaro trunk emblem and correctly not painted on the trunk lip. The front and rear bumpers are original and in excellent condition and the rocker chrome spears are also original and very nice. The glass is date coded and in good condition. The wheels are the original date coded, Version Four (late production), "DF" wheels with correct Goodyear Wide Tread GT E70X15 tires.
The interior is restored (with mostly original parts) in the factory born original red interior. It has the original correct steering wheel (which is very rare), and the original two-piece black shifter knob that came with the non-console models. It is correct. The original tire pressure sticker is also still on the backside of the glove box door. The gauges are original except for the oil pressure gauge that was added in the late 70's. It still has the original radio that works. The horn works as well as the key left in ignition buzzer and all lights interior and exterior. The seats were restored with new cushions and seat covers and the door panels were replaced along with new carpet. The dash is excellent. The undercarriage is clean and correct with a deep tone exhaust system consisting of 2 j" pipes that bend over the rear axle housing into a cross flow muffler. The right and left side tail pipes exit the muffler and face down towards the ground. Also correct are the 4 leaf springs on the rear with code "EEM" front coil springs. Everything underneath was restored including new bushings, front-end parts, lines and fittings. Partial floor pans were put in however it looks like a very professional job was done.
This car rides, drives, and handles great! I wouldn't hesitate to drive this Z/28 anywhere. It is tuned properly, shifts excellent and the clutch feels just right. I just had the oil changed and a complete service and tune up including new plugs. I also had the brakes completely serviced including new correct 4 piston calipers and pads on the front, (it had correct calipers on but they were leaking and I sent the cores back) the calipers were $182 each! Everything works on this Z/28 as it should including the factory radio, key in ignition buzzer, and all lights inside and out. As I stated above the car has been completely gone over with a fine tooth comb and it is ready to drive anywhere. It goes down the road straight true and drives and handles the best. High-quality collectible cars like this one or getting very difficult to find and I don't know where you would find another factory Red on Red like this one. This car is priced very reasonable so don't miss out on a great opportunity. A list of original and correct parts is on file.
