The Reversion Mustang originated out of an idea to create a car with the nostalgic styling of the 1968 Fastback, but with the performance, handling, luxury, dependability and safety of the modern Mustang GT. Over the course of the next nine months, a very talented 20 year old Johnny Sparks, under the supervision of Doug Kielian of Auto Kraft, took a brand new Mustang GT and carefully stripped the car of all the exterior metal and replaced it with '68 Mustang Fastback metal along with many hand built pieces as well. These pieces were expertly designed and fabricated and fitted to perfection. The Reversion still retains the factory interior, glass, weather stripping, lights, electronics, and drivetrain.
The Reversion spent 10 months traveling the U.S. astonishing onlookers, journalists and car enthusiasts alike. It was invited to meet with Ford's Experimental Design Team in Detroit. It was also showcased for two consecutive years at SEMA, featured on Speed Channel, Car Crazy, a 2 page spread in Hot Rod Magazine, a 4 page spread in Mustang Monthly, a 6-page spread, and Cover Car in Modified Mustangs and Fast Fords and many, many other publications. The Reversion has only traveled about 5k miles and just returned from being on display at the American Museum of Speed in Lincoln Nebraska for the past year.
She's powered by an SCT tuned Coyote 5.0, JLT Cold Air Intake, Carbon Fiber Cover, Dynatech Headers and a custom Stainless Exhaust System. The Wheels are Forgeline 20x11 and 19x9 and are fitted with Toyo Proxes 888 Hi-Performance Tires. She's stopped by Pro Drilled and Slotted Baer 6 Piston Brakes and rides on Eibach Sportline Springs. The brilliant Magnetic Electric Blue paint was expertly applied by Ron Jones Garage. The dash is signed by the builder, Johnny Sparks and by the Legendary Peter Brock.
There is only one Reversion Mustang built and the skill level, detail, and provenance of this Mustang put it in the Elite category of some of the top builders of yesterday and today! To sum up the Reversion in one word would be difficult, but Spectacular comes to mind!
