Please contact us for more information. In celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the legendary Mustang-based 1965-1966 GT350, Shelby American unleashed the new-generation Shelby GT350 Mustang for 2011. While design and production of the majority of Shelby Mustangs since 2006 was largely under the control of Ford Motor Company, Carroll Shelby was directly involved in certain limited-production automobile programs, including the 45th Anniversary GT350, which immediately drew praise from the automotive press for its performance, handling, and sheer presence. Bearing the "289" production number at the original buyer's request - in reference to the engine displacement of the original GT350's high-winding V-8 engine - this 2011 Shelby GT350 Mustang is 1 of only 159 built in all and 1 of just 14 equipped with the top 525-horsepower supercharged engine. Beginning with a showroom Mustang GT, the owner shipped it to Shelby American's Las Vegas facilities for "post title" conversion to GT350 specs. The Mustang's new-for-2011, "Coyote" V-8 engine, named in honor of A.J. Foyt's 1969 Indy 500 engine, was the perfect base material for the new GT350. Using chain-driven double-overhead cams, four-valve cylinder heads and variable valve timing, this lightweight all-aluminum screamer developed 412 hp, tuned by Shelby to 430 naturally-aspirated horses and 525 using a Shelby/Ford Racing Whipple supercharger. Full suspension upgrades and Shelby appearance upgrades rounded out the new GT350, adding $26,995 to the basic Mustang GT's purchase price and $33,995 for this car's full-tilt supercharged GT350 conversion. Handsomely finished in Performance White with Guardsman Blue accent stripes, car 289 features the aforementioned supercharger, 6-speed manual transmission, 3.73:1 rear axle, Shelby/Ford Racing suspension upgrades, Shelby/Baer 6-piston disc brakes, Shelby/Cragar 19-inch alloy wheels and Goodyear F1 tires, and a Shelby/Ford Racing exhaust system. The custom Shelby-appointed interior includes A-pillar mounted gauges, leather seating surfaces with contrasting stitching, and Red/White/Blue front-seat inserts. In addition to a "45th Anniversary" console plaque, this very special GT350 is also graced with a dash plaque engraved with its Shelby CSM 113500289 ID number. In addition, Carroll Shelby's instantly-recognized autograph is found on the right-side dash panel. An important model in the Shelby American lineage, the 2011 Shelby GT350 is one of the last automobiles influenced by Carroll Shelby prior to his passing in 2012. More than just another commemorative model, the car gained the immediate respect of hard-core automotive journalists upon its release. Among them, Motor Trend editors declared in September 2010, "The 2011 Shelby GT350 is the fastest, best handling and sweetest sounding 'Stang we've ever laid out hands on." Garage-stored since purchase, Car 289 is offered in immaculate condition with just 950 miles of use. Offered complete with full documentation, it is an outstanding find worthy of the finest collections.
