Vehicle Description

Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd 2017 at Russo and Steeles 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information. Built to succeed the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the launch of Carroll Shelbys 1967 GT500 the 500-horsepower 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 took pride of place as the most powerful production Mustang ever built until the 2013 Shelby 1000. Looking sounding performing and handling as any car with the Shelby name should the GT500 was powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 under the hood. Based on an iron cylinder block the GT500 engine was topped with free-breathing aluminum four-valve heads and a Roots-type Eaton R122 supercharger. As expected performance of the new GT500 was electrifying with 0 to 60 times in the 4-second range. Despite the cars electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph its rated power output transmission ratios and rear-end gearing suggested speeds of some 175 mph theoretically possible. Given the GT500s tractable engine the car launches with authority and provides exceptional scope for driver input and skill with or without the cars traction control activated. In all the 2007-2009 GT500 simply marks a true modern-day supercar on all possible counts and one of the last Shelby models developed under the guidance of company founder Carroll Shelby. While all GT500s are special cars this vehicle was the actual prototype for the Shelby Automotive 40th Anniversary Edition package offered only to 2007 GT500 owners. Of all the 2007 GT500s produced only an approximate 330 of them were modified by Shelby Automotive and given the exclusive 40th Anniversary Edition name title badging and engine and chassis upgrades. Originally a Shelby prototype for the 40th Anniversary GT500 Edition cars this car is also the only 40th Anniversary GT500 in existence with white stripes as all other 40th Anniversary cars had silver stripes. Importantly this vehicle has a unique VIN number CSM07XL000X with CSM representing Carroll Shelby Motors 07 representing the 2007 production year XL the 40th Anniversary and 000X designating this GT500 as a prototype vehicle. As offered this very special Shelby prototype remains totally original including the original tires installed by Shelby Automotive. Ownership history is completely known and verified with documents confirming that Carroll Shelby was the original purchaser/owner and Gary Harlow the second owner for only a few days before the car was acquired by the current owner. Mileage is only an approximate 2100 500 by Carroll Shelby and the latter 1600 on weekend drives by the current owner. Offered in virtually perfect as-new condition this Shelby GT500 40th Anniversary prototype is accompanied at auction by many outstanding documents including copies of the original purchase documents by Carroll Shelby copies of original titles the original window stickers signed by Carroll Shelby stories of how the vehicle came to be and more. There are many other very unique aspects of this vehicle that provide a fascinating glimpse into its development and build and will captivate the most die-hard Shelby fan. All other Shelby Automotive Prototype vehicles have remained in the hands of Shelby Automotive and are only available for purchase through them making the offering of this GT500 40th Anniversary prototype a truly rare and thrilling find.
