Austin-Healey's production of sports cars started in 1953 with the introduction of the successful 100-4 model. In 1956, the 6-cylinder 100-6 model was produced which was developed into the vastly improved and famous 3000. This model featured front disc brakes, greater torque and horsepower and was offered in 2 and 4-seat roadster body styles. 1963 models benefited from even more improvements and upgrades with the introduction of the BJ7 2+2 sports convertible. This model was designated as a 3000 MK IIA and now provided roil-up windows to replace the old side screens and an easy-stowing, proper, snug-fitting soft top.
This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Sports Convertible was thoroughly restored by Kurt Tanner Restorations, beginning as an excellent, straight, solid, black plate California car. Beautifully finished in two-stage Sikkens Old English White over complete new red leather, this lovely Big Healey features a 4-speed overdrive gearbox, chrome/stainless wire wheels, adjustable steering wheel and heater. Other great highlights include a new interior, top, top boot, chrome and rubber kit, plus the brakes, fuel system, re-plated hardware, detailed driveline and undercarriage, new wiring harness and electrics, and new stainless wire wheels, tires and knock-offs. A beautifully presented example of the revered Austin-Healey marque with a top-quality professional restoration!
