For Sale: 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle in Alpharetta, Georgia

Vehicle Description

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, 1972 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS CONVERTIBLE, BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED, BIG BLOCK 402 V8, AUTOMATIC, LOADED UP WITH 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES, POWER STEERING, ICE COLD FACTORY A/C AND MORE....READY TO SHOW AND GO!!! This beautiful 1972 Chevelle SS Convertible has been lovingly owned and cared for by its current owner here in the Atlanta, GA area for the past 15 years. He acquired it for his 40th birthday and never expected to sell it. Well, unfortunately some times life gets in the way of our grand master plans as is the case here. Education expenses for his kids are a priority and he has decided to let another lucky owner enjoy this awesome convertible. When he bought the car 15 years ago he was told this was a true SS car and it had a nicely built 402 V8 in it. He and the family enjoyed taking the car out any sunny day chance they got and he put about 13,000 miles on it in the past 15 years. Over the course of his ownership this SS has received quite a few upgrades and an awesome restoration including a complete engine rebuild and a frame-on restoration resulting in an absolutely jaw-dropping paint job. As you will see, any work that was done was done with the full intention of keeping this car forever and no expense was spared. In May of this year close to $10,000 was spent on the motor, suspension, a/c and more to make sure this SS was running and driving as good as possible. Mission accomplished, and this Chevelle Convertible is now running and driving the best it ever has in his 15 years of his ownership and the next lucky owner needs only to turn the key, drop the top, and enjoy!!!! The body and paint on this '72 Chevelle SS Convertible are top notch! This car was professionally stripped, blocked, and repainted to a show quality finish about 3 years ago. I realize that everyone has a different interpretation of a show quality finish so I do not use that term very often but I am very confident that the next lucky owner will agree that this car has a show quality finish and will win its share of trophies if that is what you enjoy. The body is amazingly straight and panel fit is fantastic. At the time of restoration when the body was stripped there was some filler discovered in the rear quarter panels so new outer skins were professionally installed and look awesome. White SS stripes were buried under the clear coat and this is just an outstanding, timeless, color combination. I would call the body flawless however I did notice just a few tiny rock chips that have been touched up and just some very tiny scratches around where the hood pins go. Definitiely a show quality car that can also be driven and enjoyed! Bumpers, chrome, stainless trim all look fantastic. All of the glass looks great and windows roll up and down nicely and seal up to the convertible top well. Weatherstripping all looks close to new and was replaced at time of restoration. The white power top looks great and works perfectly. In fact, I think it is fair to say that this convertible looks almost as good with the top up as it does down. The white over red color combination is simply stunning. The top was replaced in 2003 and still looks close to new. Rear window is glass and the car was always garage stored with the top up when not in use. Very nice matching white boot cover gives the car a nice finished look when the top is down. A few of the snaps on the boot cover need to be replaced but that is a cheap and easy fix. Complimenting the gorgeous cranberry red exterior is an absolutely beautiful white interior. Front bucket seats and rear bench are in close to new condition and look great and are very comfortable. Door panels look like new. Correct SS dash with tach and all other gauges appear to be working correctly. Clock is moving but owner told me it is not keeping accurate time. Center console with staple shifter looks great and functions smoothly. Seat belts for front and rear passengers and a new set of rear seat belts will be included as one of the buttons on one of the rear belts is broken. Nice sounding stereo with plug for your phone or mobile device with custom kick panels with speakers neatly installed. Carpet looks very good overall but is slightly faded and could be easily dyed if desired. Nice set of SS mats. Factory Air Conditioning will keep passengers nice and cold when needed as it was completely restored and upgraded to R134A just 6 months ago. So now you may be wondering if this SS convertible runs and drives as good as it looks....ABSOLUTELY! Just 6 months ago, the 402 V8 received a pretty extensive top end rebuild with receipts to show what was done. Basically the top end of the motor was completely rebuilt, re-ring of pistons, valve job, heads rebuilt, etc. New Edelbrock performer intake and 4bbl carb. were installed, beautiful set of ceramic coated headers added breathing out an awesome sounding dual exhaust. All of the seals in the motor and transmission were replaced and there are no leaks! This motor was actually completely rebuilt back in 2007. However, 6 months ago the owner was experiencing a rear main seal leak he wanted to have taken care of. When the motor and transmission were pulled to replace the seals the mechanic inspected the motor a bit and did not like how it looked on one side after pulling the heads. So, he advised a top end rebuild would ensure the peak performance. Once the work was finished and the car was back on the road the owner of the car said it drove stronger and better than ever!!! As indicated by the VIN # this car was originally equipped with a 350 4bbl but at some point was replaced with a CE ( manufacturer counter exchange) 402 big block V8. I would estimate the horsepower at 350-375 hp and the work that was done to the motor is very fresh, completed 6 months ago with about 500 miles put on it since then. I have personally driven this car and it has tons of power but is tame enough to be driven anywhere. Engine bay is also nicely detailed and you can be proud to pop the hood at any local show or cruise-in. The Turbo 400 automatic transmission shifts smoothly and this car handles the road beautifully thanks to the power steering and completely rebuilt front suspension with all new upper and lower ball joints. Correct 12 bolt rear end with highway friendly gears. Correct front and rear stabilizer bars and rear trailing arms. The current owner also decided to upgraded the front disc brakes to larger 4 wheel drilled and slotted power disc brakes that stop this SS like a new car. He also added a sweet set of 17" American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels wrapped in close to new radials that give this SS a modern muscle stance. He kept the original 5 spoke SS wheels that are in great shape and will be included. To give this Chevelle a killer stance and enhance handling a 1" lowering spring kit was added as well just 6 months ago. It is obvious from all the work and money that was spent recently that he was planning on keeping this beauty but unfortunately for him he decided it was time to let it go. The next lucky owner will be getting an amazing running car that has just recently been completely refreshed to drive and enjoy. I am attaching some of the receipts from some of the recent work to give you an idea of what was done. Floorpans and undercarriage look fantastic as well with no rust issues. Same goes for the trunk which was detailed nicely at time of restoration as well. Make sure you watch the video that follows to hear this ground pounding 402 V8 SS Chevelle start up and running. Asking price is $46,500 and I will listen to serious offers. Call me at 770-359-8400 if interested.
