2003, which was only introduced as a convertible form. The bodywork
was considered new and edgy. The extensive use of carbon fiber and
composite panels helped reduce weight by 100 lbs compared to the
previous Viper. The bodywork, special under-car belly pan, well
integrated convertible top and lower hood line greatly improved
aerodynamics for better high-speed stability. A new 8.3 literV-10
engine was introduced which produced 504 horsepower and 525 lb-ft
of torque. The power band was much wider and smoother than the
previous Viper. The biggest improvement was the braking system.
Four piston calipers and 14 rotors, with the help of ABS, provided
unbelievably short stopping distances. All the mechanical
improvements combined with the interior improvements make this car
an exciting sports car. 60 mph time is reached in a scant 3.9
seconds, the quarter mile in 11.7 seconds and top-speed is
