Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this Chevrolet Chevy II Nova
for purchase. After the Corvair wasn't the hit they hoped it would
be, GM needed a new "compact car" and they rushed the production of
the Chevy II with Nova being the name of the top trim level.
However, the car is commonly referred to as both names. Unlike the
Corvair, this model was much more conventional and much better
received. These cars are very cool classics and pretty rare to find
as solid first generation models. Their compact, simple nature make
them great cruisers and a top choice for enthusiasts to add
horsepower and drivability enhancements or as well as a perfect car
for a full on Resto-Mod.
The 1966 Chevy II Nova offered here comes to us from the Third
owner who has owned the car for the last 20 years. This code 116
Nova is now powered by a professionally prepared 327 V8 that has
been bored to 60 over, and line honed, balanced and blue printed
using the best components available including Dart Iron Eagle
Heads, Holly Dual Feed 4 Barrel Carburetor, Torker Mid Riser intake
manifold, Accel Ignition etc., the power is transferred by a 700R4
Automatic Transmission to its 3.55 10 bolt rear end. Other
highlights include B&M Prostick shifter, Sun tachometer, Dual
exhaust, Optima battery, dual master cylinder, headers, dual
exhaust, power steering, front disc brakes, heavy duty sway bar,
multi leaf rear springs, stainless steel brake lines, and 15 inch
Rally wheels.
The body and structure of this Nova is excellent in all areas.
Owner claims that the car retains most if not all of its original
sheet metal, the 25 plus year old red paint still shows very well
for its age and the SS badging and trim package really sets it off.
The interior is fresh featuring new seat material and new
carper.
Mechanically, this car is a excellent in all areas, the motor
provides excellent horsepower, the 700R4 transmission combined with
the 3.55 ratio rear end enables the car to easily cruise at modern
day highway speeds for endless amounts of time.
The Chevy II has carved its way into automotive history as an early
compact car with factory performance versions that would knock you
sox off. Survival rates of these cars are relatively low and
sightings are far less common than comparable cars of that era.
These cars are loved by many and possessed by few. For this reason,
examples such as this remain highly sought after. This car is ready
to show and go.
