Vehicle Description
Hold on to your hats as we introduce on of the most thoughtful
builds ever to grace the floor at the GR Auto Gallery. This all
steel 1940 Ford Pick Up has been given a mechanical transplant that
is revered in all rodding circles. Stay true to Hot Rod roots, the
attention and engineering of this Ford was all concentrated on the
mechanical and performance aspect while paying homage and respect
to an all steel Ford truck body that survived intact for nearly 80
years. The body has been left as found with the floors being
replaced as needed, the left rear fender is a replacement, but the
quest for an original rear fender remains. The box features a new
box frame with new wood.
The original Ford Truck frame has been sand blasted, boxed,
fortified with added cross members and modified to accept the slew
of high performance parts added to this build including: Chassis
Engineering rear springs, transverse bar, shocks and mounts,
Chassis steering arms with Vega steering box, Banjo style rear end
with Winters quick change center section. The brakes are all new,
big Lincoln brakes restored drums and all new shoes, wheel
cylinders, guts and brake lines. The wheels are custom built steel
wheels with nostalgic style rear drag tires. Other highlights
include the original OE gauge cluster that woks, all new wiring,
new headlight buckets, new seat cover with new foam, new headliner,
and relocated seat for more room.
At the heart of this build is an 8BA Ford/Mercury, 304 current
displacement, block that has been tanked, fluxed, peened,
line-honed, bored to 3 3/8, drilled for full flow oil and ported.
Internals feature Scat rotating assembly with 4 crank, H-beam
rods,, all new bearings (mains, rods, cam), Ross forged pistons,
Grand rings, new guides, locks, keepers, 45 degree valve seats, new
stainless 1.5 valves, new adjustable lifters, new Isky 400jr
springs, locks and keepers, Isky 400jr full race cam, new 1 piece
front seal, all new "Best" brand gaskets, 8BA truck oil pan, new
8BA oil pump, tube and screen, new ball bearing truck style water
pump, starter plate, new Powermaster Power Generator, new Mallory
distributer, Weiand 8BA heads (these are original speed parts not
reproductions, polished Offenhauser intake, dual Big Flow 97
Stromberg, all new linkage, all new hardware through out, custom
wires, new plugs, etc....all of this was masterfully orchestrated
by the skillful hands of Go Cat Speedshop, Denver, Co.
This 1940 Ford Pickup captures the essence of vintage, old school
hot rodding. A truck that was built with old school methods with
the best, made in the USA, parts available. The performance of this
truck is amazing and the build quality is stunning. The distressed
look is by design and this truck combines new performance
mechanicals and originality in a masterful way.
