MY 1957 CORVETTE WAS RECENTLY AWARDED THE 2ND PLACE AT THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA/SACRAMENTO AUTORAMA. IT LOST TO A 1957 FORD THUNDERBIRD "TRAILER-QUEEN", A CAR THAT IS NEVER DRIVEN, EXCEPT TO AUTO SHOWS.
A WAREHOUSE FIND, NOT A BARN FIND! First purchased in October 1956 by Vaughn Biggi of Oakland, Calif. Car was a pleasure driver. It was purchased in 1961 by Ernie Dutre & his father, of San Francisco, Calif. Converted to a drag racer & raced in B/SP or B/MP classes. Competed in & won many events. In 1974, when Ernie's father passed, the car was put in a warehouse in So, San Francisco, Calif. There it sat until I purchased the car in 1988. Purchased body/frame, boxes of parts, components & pieces due to the fact that parts from it had been sold or traded away. As stated, I purchased body/frame, parts, motors (2) dual 4-barrel intake system, transmissions (2) rear end & many components. I didn’t start restoration until 2012 due to a lack of money to do a complete & correct restoration.
It is a COMPLETE “NUT & BOLT” RESTORATION! EVERY PART, COMPONENT, ASSEMBLY, ACCESSORY, GAUGES, RADIO, GAS TANK, ETC. WAS DONE! Started with the frame, (straightened and powder coated), driveline, and all suspension. It was put aside and the motor was next. The motor, a replacement 327, was balanced, blue-printed, and assembled with special pistons and roller cam. Motor run on a test stand. The transmission was completely rebuilt and topped with a “Hurst Golden Shifter”, circa ’66-’69, won a drag event. Motor, transmission, and rear-end assembled to frame assy. Assembly set aside. The body was next. The body was completely done from front to back. The fiberglass work, primed and block sanded numerous times, primed again, and an $8,000 paint job in original Cascade green with Beige coves applied. The grill was re-chromed and replacement trim was polished and assembled to the body. Completed body was assembled to frame/motor assembly. New exhaust system and headers installed. Next, the entire interior, seats, flooring, upholstery (by Al Knock), gauges, replacement heater assy., radio, etc. was installed. New soft top installed. Hardtop was completely redone/restored and painted with same Cascade green.
Restoration/assembly is complete, with correct wheels, correct replacement tires, spinner hub caps AND electric windows. Over $148,000 invested in car/restoration. It is a BRAND NEW, 60- YEAR-OLD-CORVETTE!

A 1957 FORD THUNDERBIRD, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, SOFT TOP, AND HARD TOP WITH THE PORT HOLES. OR
A 1957 CHEVROLET, BEL-AIRE, 2-DOOR HARDTOP IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
THE CONDITION OF EITHER VEHICLE MUST BE IN STOCK CONDITION WITH NO MODIFICATIONS, AND AS LISTED, IN "EXCELLENT CONDITION"!
**I will consider as partial payment for my Corvette a 1957 Ford Thunderbird with both the soft top & the portal hardtop, must be automatic & in excellent condition. Or a 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2-door hardtop automatic power glide. Also must be in excellent condition.
