For Sale: 1965 International Scout in Kentwood, Michigan
International Harvester developed the Scout as a precursor of more sophisticated SUV's to come. The only other 4-wheel drive recreational vehicles offered at the time were Jeeps. The Scouts became known for their ability to go anywhere and have high durability. They are a key part of automotive history being considered the first SUV. The Scout 800 was the replacement for the 80, it came with upgraded heating system and bucket seats.
This 1965 International Scout 800 half cab truck was recently acquired from Colorado. It functions well and goes down the road as it should. It features a four cylinder engine with a manual transmission. The engine has a 2 barrel carburetor and it fires up with ease. It appears to have newer belts and hoses. It also features newer BFG All Terrain tires mounted on aluminum wheels, including a rear mounted full size spare on the bumper. There is a small lift kit that was added that gives it an aggressive but tasteful stance. The white top is removable by removing a few nuts and bolts.
