HISTORY
Few off-road vehicles are as legendary or have such a dedicated
following as Toyota's venerable (and virtually indestructible) Land
Cruiser. And while the most recognizable and well-known classic
Land Cruiser is the FJ40, there are a few extremely rare vintage
Land Cruisers that remain the "Holy Grail" for serious Cruiser
collectors. At the top of this list is the FJ45LV wagon, produced
from 1963-67. It is estimated that only 5,000 were produced in
total and roughly just 1,000 of them were imported into the United
States, with the majority going to Australia and South America. One
of the things that makes an FJ45LV so unique is that Toyota
assembled the running gear and chassis but used an outside
coachbuilder, Gifu Auto Body Industry Company, to actually
construct the LV's special body, hence the minuscule production
numbers. Add in roughly five decades of attrition and it is easy to
understand why most people have never even seen an FJ45LV in
person. There is less than 100 documented to exist today. This one
presented here is one of the finest in the world.
