'67 Corvette back in the day few if any buyers truly knew of the
significance of their purchase. This was to be the last year of the
second generation or mid-years as the '63-'67 models were known.
And as was the case in '67 the last of the line turned out to be
the best. But truth be told the '67 Corvette as we know it wasn't
supposed to exist in the first place! Anticipation was high for the
arrival of the new third generation Stingray aka the "Shark". The
car was due to be released as a '67 model. But it wasn't quite
ready. So it was decided that the mid-year bodied Corvette would
continue for one more year. And because of this many '67's
languished in Chevrolet showrooms throughout the Country because
many were waiting to buy the new C3 instead! Who'd a thought!!
However the extra year enabled the boys at GM time to refine the C2
just enough to make what is considered the best mid-year if not the
best of the first three generation Corvettes ever built! At first
glance a '67 small block Corvette doesn't look a whole lot
different than a '66 or '65 for that matter. But if you ordered a
big block it became quite clear that the '67 was indeed different.
So what set the 67 big block apart from previous years? That
beautiful and distinctive Stinger hood of course! Today that hood
and whats under it can mean huge $$ compared to just about every
other year Corvette built during the Golden Age. And yes there were
other changes to the 67 also. They included the re-location of the
emergency brake from under the dash to the center console making it
a true handbrake for the first time. And other subtle refinements
to the interior as well. On the outside there were new smaller
rectangular side vents and in the rear the back-up lights were
moved from the tail lights to the body just above the bumpers. The
wheels were changed too with the introduction of the classic Rally
wheel one of the prettiest wheels to ever grace a sports car! And
if you checked RPO N89 you got the gorgeous one year only Bolt-on
wheels. Oh and lets not forget RPO L88! But thats another story . .
.All '67 Corvettes are special right? But some are more special
than others. Like this one for instance. Besides the usual (or
unusual) stuff like an L36 427/390hp big block M20 4-spd. manual
transmission 3.55 Posi rear end side exhaust power brakes power

radio and red line radial tires this beautifully restored and very

Pretty darn special if you ask us! But what makes this particular
'67 extra special is that it was the cover car for the Corvette
Black Book from '97-'00! Proof comes in the form of a "Thank You"
letter dated 10-31-96 from the President and Publisher Mike
