Vehicle Description
STK 2111 1996 Mazda Miata MX5 Mazda's goal with the Miata was to
combine the reliability and quality of a Japanese car with the
excitement of an inexpensive, lightweight, rear-drive convertible.
They did a great job. With the Miata, Mazda brought back the simple
honest sports car we feared had vanished forever. No longer did we
need to gaze in frustration at '60's movies and their rakish
Triumph TR4s, Lotus Elans and MGBs. The '96 model MX-5 was the
next-to-last year for the Gen 1 Miata, a car that aged well. It
delivered everything British, but with no large oil stains on your
garage floor or roadside breakdowns. By 1996, there had been quite
a few subtle improvements performed to the original MX-5. The
engine size had increased to 1.8L and now produced 133bhp. This
particular car has an aftermarket header/catback free-flow exhaust
and 'Oil-Pre-Lube' system to aid with cold starts. The DOHC engine
also has recent service and a new timing belt. The 5-speed manual
gearbox shifts seamlessly and an aftermarket front strut support
bar has been added. This is a partially restored car that has
received cosmetic upgrades. The black exterior was reshot in 2012,
incorporating gray carbon fiber stripping with gold hood, deck and
side accents. The interior is original, in very good condition and
the new Robbins top has a glass rear window. There is: A/C,
AM/FM/CD stereo, power steering, power tinted windows, power
mirrors and cruise control. Braking is 4-wheel disc with power
assist and new pads. This Miata has exciting looks, refined
mechanicals, an affordable price and is very high coefficient of
fun. Call 800-650-1055 or visit www.autobarnclassiccars.com for
