For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette. This is as American as apple pie, a 1960 Corvette painted in Roman Red with a white cove and both tops, yes ma'am. Power comes from a beautiful and healthy 283 with dual quads producing 245 horsepower, and it's a four speed with 3.70 rear gears and posi-traction. The near new Michelin white wall radials offer a original look with a great ride. The car is an older frame off restoration that has seen regular enjoyment. The car has proven itself many times with some great road trips, most recently from the greater St. Louis area down to Biloxi Mississippi for Cruising the Coast car show. These are great cars and they deserve to be driven. They will treat you best when enjoyed. The cars that sit in the garage year after year usually need something before being able to be enjoyed. This one's ready for the road! Some road friendly modifications besides the radial Michelins include a Dual Master Cylinder, Tapered roller wheel bearings, Pertronix Ignition, electric cooling fans hidden neatly under the fan shroud, the entire floor from the firewall to the top seat backs have been lined with Dynaliner insulation to reduce heat and noise and an alternator conversion to help keep up with charging during low speeds. The carburetors have also been professionally rebuilt. 1960 was the last year for the rounded rear end as the '61 model year would have what looked like a chopped off rear very similar to the '63 - '67 Corvette rear end.
