Ford's Mustang had barley begun its journey to historic sales as a new cultural phenomena when stylists and engineers were already beginning to put the final touches on what would be the new model for 1967. The car was larger but did not deviate much from the original look. Its lager dimensions would allow Ford to now install a big block into its pony car to now compete with the growing field muscle cars. The new for 1967 390 CID big block utilized a cast iron intake, a 600 CFM Holley 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust to make it the favorite power plant in the GT 4 speed or the GTA 3-speed automatic Mustangs, which remained the Mustangs top performance model. The GT Equipment Package incorporated grille-mounted fog lamps, dual exhaust with chrome quad outlets, power front disc brakes, GT fuel cap, a special handling package, rocker panel stripes and in the case of automatic models, GTA badging on the front fenders. The Ford Mustang S-code 390 GTA offered here is a wonderful example that has been selectively restored while preserving the original integrity of this mustang. The car is finished in is factory color of Vintage Burgundy Metallic over Black Vinyl Standard interior. The car is powered by its desirable 390 V8 fed by its 4 barrel carburetor, the power is transferred by its C-6 automatic transmission and applies by its 3.00:1 conventional rear end. Highlights included factory air conditioning, bucket seats, console, GT package, power steering, power brakes, vinyl roof, luggage rack and GT style wheels. The interior features new seat upholstery, new carpet and new door panels, the dash and console remain original and very nice. The exterior paint shows excellent in all areas as well as the vinyl roof. Under the hood is equally impressive as it houses the Ford big block, the underside remains unrestored and completely original and remains clean and dry with nothing to hide. Mechanically, this 1967 Mustang GTA is a proven driver, is turn key and ready for immediate use. The Ford Mustang remains an American icon and is hands down, one of the most recognizable cars ever produced. These cars have a loyal following that continues to grow and for this reason are globally sought after. Big block cars such as the car offered remain on the bucket list of many and this car is a must consideration.
