Porsche has offered custom services to its customers for decades, answering requests for everything from special color paint and leather upholstery to hand controls for handicapped drivers. The Porsche Sonderwunsch, or “Special Wishes” Department, created the iconic “Slantnose” front end, which sloped down to the front bumper without the interruption of standard headlights. The BTR was given a larger Group-B-spec turbocharger, bulletproof internals and 935-specification cams to take the car beyond the “standard” Turbo’s already magnificent performance to the outer edges of exhilarating, requiring the Ruf-manufactured “Dogleg” 5-speed to handle its output. Ruf also supplied the intercooler, oil cooler and performance exhaust, 17-inch alloy wheels and instrumentation.
