Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a very unique 1948 Cushman Truckster. The Cushman company, started in 1903 in Lincoln, Nebraska; specialized in small utility vehicles as well as small engines for driving equipment. It wouldn't be unheard of to see a Cushman powering farm equipment, driving a boat, or being driven around a factory or warehouse. Later models included personal scooters and 3 wheelers used for recreation. This particular model is a '48 Truckster. This is a 3 wheeled vehicle that originally might have found itself in a factory, or driving around a campus. Originally used for utility, this vehicle has been completely rebuilt and transformed to be used for recreation. A custom body has been fabricated and looks like no other Cushman you'll find! It features a custom front when cover reminiscent of an old street rod even including a radiator topper. The majority of the body is covered in custom wood work like an old woody. A custom seat has been built to comfortably seat two up front and even 1-2 in the back! When the cart was originally built, it would've come with a 3 hp engine made by Cushman. This has been replaced with a much more potent 11 HP Tecumseh electric start engine. The electric start makes driving this one a breeze. Controls are simple, brake pedal, accelerator pedal, and a tiller to steer. The Cushman is titled as a motorcycle and can be registered in some states. It has headlights, tail lights, and brake lights to keep you seen and allow you to see. This would be the perfect vehicle for putting around a neighborhood, retirement community, or driving in parades.
