For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Big Block convertible. 1970 would the peak year for horsepower and displacement. 1971 would be the start of lower compression ratios resulting in lower horsepower. This 1970 Chevelle is powered by a date coded 396 big block that is producing 350 horsepower and 427 lbs/ft of torque. Certainly more than of enough to smoke the rear tires. The machine work, assembly and dyno time was completed at Morley Performance LLC out of Fenton, MO in 2010. Since the completion, the car has covered just 7,495 miles. The restoration was completed at the same time and still looks amazing. Backing up that big block power is a TH-400 automatic transmission and on to a twelve bolt rear-end housing 3.31 gears. This frame off restored Tuxedo Black 1970 Chevelle convertible is optioned with a power top, Air Conditioning, AM/FM radio, Power steering, Power brakes, Chambered stainless steel exhaust and a tilt steering column. This near spotless Chevelle can be seen in better detail at our St. Louis showroom or call 618-271-3000 for more information.
