For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a frame off restored 1966 Chevrolet Bel Air coupe. The odometer reads 13,914, with an estimated 400 miles being driven since the restoration was complete. Powering this classic 66' Bel Air coupe is a 496 CID Stroker V8, which began its life in 1973 as a 454 big block V8. The 496 Stroker was professionally built and now features dual electric fans to keep the monster cool. All new stainless fuel and brake lines have been installed as well. A Tremec 5 speed manual transmission transfers the horsepower to the 12 bolt rear end via an aluminum drive shaft. The 12 bolt rear end houses the much desired 4.11 gears. This 66' Bel Air still has 90% of its original sheet metal. The front end has been rebuilt, and features new body bushings as well. The PPG white exterior paint was applied 4 years ago, and still looks fantastic. The vinyl interior with cloth inserts is also in like new condition, free from any rips, tears, or wear. The interior has been restored to factory look, except for the white faced auxiliary gauges and the T-Bar Hurst shift handle, which provide a nice "Hot Rod" look and feel. The Bel Air was a full sized car produced by Chevrolet, and debuted in 1950. Production ceased here in the United States in 1975, but continued in Canada until 1981. When initially introduced, the Bel Air was only available in a two door hardtop. Throughout the course of its production many different variations were added including: two door hard top, two door coupe, two door convertible, two door wagon, four door hard top, four door sedan, four door wagon.
