For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette. This Corvette is powered by the fuel injected 327 producing a staggering 375 horsepower! The "Fuelie" was only installed in 1,325 Corvettes in 1964 out of a total production of 22,229. The Fuel Injection engine option first became available in 1957 and ended in 1965. This was the most powerful small block V8 that Chevrolet offered until the 405 horsepower ZR-1 Corvette in 1993. 1964 was the second year for the Sting Ray. Some of the changes for the '64 included the removal of the rear split window design for better visibility. Some '63 owners were actually cutting out the bar in the rear window. Obviously they had no idea how collectible the '63 Spilt Window Corvette would become years down the road. The '64 model year also saw removal of the vent panels in the hood, although the recessed area for the simulated vents remained. This '64 Fuelie is painted in traditional Corvette colors, Ermine White with a Red interior. Further complimenting the look is a set of aluminum knock off wheels and white wall tires. Backing up this high revving small block is a close ratio Muncie four speed. The car is very original with exception to one repaint in its original color and a new exhaust system. The interior is original, the engine is numbers matching and the original tube AM/FM radio is still operational. The mileage is believed to be correct showing 27,658. However, with no documentation to support this, the mileage is marked as unknown. With the condition of the interior and the rest of the car, this certainly appears to be a low mileage car.
