High performance and low cost were Plymouth’s design goals for a brand-new model in 1968, and with that the Road Runner was born. The company believed that the time was right for a factory hot rod for the youth market, and its guess was right on the money as the Road Runner is one of the most iconic muscle car's ever created. It was also a very budget-friendly "B Body" machine which made it another very important reason for purchasing. A member of the Belvedere line, the Road Runner came stock with a 383 CID V8 engine making 335 horsepower and 425 ft./lbs. of torque. This 1968 Plymouth Road Runner is powered by its original, rebuilt 383 CID V8 engine and is backed by a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This '68 Road Runner received a body on restoration back in 2003 which consisted of a repaint along with a rebuild of the engine and transmission and new seat covers and door panels among other things. The body is painted in an nice deep red color and is accented nicely with a white and red interior. Recently the car had power brakes added with disc brakes in the front which is a definite improvement over the factory non-power drum brakes the car originally came equipped with. The current owner also had a Flowmaster exhaust system put on that gives this Road Runner that deep muscle car tone it deserves.
