This “Staff Pick Best Custom Pickup at the 2015 Street rod Nationals” 1971 GMC Pickup is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Although today GMC is thought of as a more luxurious version of GM it was not always that way. In 1909 GM purchased the Rapid Motor Company which would form the foundation for the General Motors Truck Company which is where the GMC Truck brand came from. Specializing in some of the first commercial trucks ever designed this beauty is about as far from commercial as you can get. Starting its life as just a basic truck it has been transformed into the beauty that it is today. The truck was completely taken apart and separated from the frame so the real work could begin. The all steel body was taken done to bare metal and primed with PPG base and ready for some color to go down. After some debating back and forth the decision was made to go with the dark and deep burgundy which has its own unique look. Finished off with multiple coats of clear and then buffed and shined to the show car finish you see before you. The next thing to be addressed was the power plant. Wanting to have something a little more reliable than your basic carb set up a fuel injected 383 stroker motor putting out an amazing 520 HP. Dripping in chrome from the top of the intake all the way down to the inner fender wells under the hood is an absolute show stopper. Hooked up to the classic turbo 400 transmission which turns the bullet proof 12 bolt posi rear end this truck is sure to get down the road nicely. Naturally with the super clean wood bed finished off with a lacquer finish that looks like glass there will be only one thing hauled on this truck and it won't be cargo. Just to make sure that beautiful floor stays that way a custom toneau cover on hydraulic actuators was made and finished with the same PPG paint. The interior was the last thing to be done and it definitely put an exclamation point on the build. With custom digital gauges in place of the old analog one's it looks like it could have came from the factory. Once you feel the bench seat that has been covered in custom lambskin material your jaw will hit the floor in amazement as you never knew something could be so soft. With the luxuries of AC and a custom stereo finish off this one of a kind show quality build. Options on this 1971 GMC Super Custom include; AC, AM/FM/CD, Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Chrome Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires.
