For Sale: 1948 Ford Deluxe in O'Fallon, Illinois

This 1948 Ford Super Deluxe is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. 1948 was the last year of an era, not only did Old Man Ford just pass away the year before, but Ford's were basically the same cars. The beam front axle, transverse springs; with really the only true upgrade were hydraulic brakes in 39. Thank goodness the old man had left styling in the hands of good ole Edsel, and beginning in 36 became the undisputed design leader. This 48 is a great example of what some of your hot rodders of the mid 50's would do. The motor has been transplanted from a newer more powerful 49-53 model. With power and speed on the mind they took the flathead and equipped it with quite a few period correct go fast goodies. If you notice first sitting on top of the motor a Stromberg 97 carb gives this built flathead plenty of fuel. Increasing power and efficiency an electric fuel pump was added. The heads are an original style Edelbrock which are really one of the first mass produced aftermarket piece made available to the public. Matched up to the same type of intake this V8 makes some pretty impressive power. Ignition is taken care of through a totally new system from the coil down to the plugs themselves have all been recently replaced. Naturally with this kind of money under the hood you really want to insure you don’t have any heat problems, Having that in mind the decision was made to out a new water pump, an aluminum radiator, and ofcourse all new hoses. This keeps everything nice and cool underneath that huge round medal hood. With a ton of shine under the hood the next thing needing attention was the exterior. Starting off with the new front and rear bumpers the chrome on this 48 is in great shape. With the rear fender gravel shields glowing like the rest of the chrome on the car she is definitely an eye catcher. Ofcourse all of this is nice but if doesn't drive very well who cares what it looks like. That has all been addressed as well with a new set of shocks and brakes the ride is a lot smoother than you would expect. Finished off with a set of Posie rear springs and lowering shackles giving this 48 a great feel for the road. Finished off with the classic 15" steel wheel wrapped in those huge wide white wall tires if doesn't bring you back to a much a simpler time I don’t think anything will.
