For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette. 1962 was the farewell to the beautiful lines of the C1 Corvette, and also saw a farewell to several other features. This was the last time we would see the solid axle on a Corvette, the last time we would see an external trunk until 1998, and the last time we would see exposed headlights until the sixth generation in 2005! This Vette is a highly desirable triple black car, with black paint, interior, convertible top. Even the steel wheels behind the hub caps are black. However, the real treat with this car lies under the hood: a real RF block. That’s right, the Fuelie block. The fuel injection itself has unfortunately been removed some time ago, but all of the telltale signs are there: the original high-dome pistons, the high-horsepower tach, the oblong hole in the firewall for the fuelie distributor. All that is needed to take this back to a fuelie car is the fuel injection doghouse, distributor, and air cleaner assembly. There is an exhaustive list of work that the current owner has done since purchasing the car in 2005. Some of the more noteworthy items include rebuilding the original engine with a solid lifer cam, new aluminized exhaust, new shock absorbers, new DeWitt’s aluminum radiator, rebuilt Muncie transmission, new clutch, and of course new tires. The interior upholstery and foam is all new, as well as the black convertible top and frame, and new weather stripping. The original black hardtop is also included with the car. All in all, this is a great cruising C1 Corvette that will not disappoint. It has the wonderful Fuelie legacy, irresistible triple black color, and lots of love put into it over the years.
