For sale in our Chicago showroom is this 1990 Ford Mustang LX 25th Anniversary Edition. These vehicles were also known as the “7up Mustangs.” Originally, Ford had partnered with 7up to create only 30 vehicles in this color combination and option package to be given away at the 1990 NCAA Finals to contest winners who could make a basketball shot from half-court. Last minute, the entire contest was cancelled, leaving Ford with a few very specifically styled mustangs and nothing to do with them. They decided to rebrand the cars as the 25th anniversary models and up production to 5,000 units. The LX-trimmed mustangs all shared the same Emerald Green paint, white leather interior, and a white convertible top. All of these mustangs received the 255 horsepower 5.0l V8 engine. Most of them, this example included, were optioned with the automatic transmission. The vehicle has only traveled and astonishingly low 5,249 actual miles since first assembled at the Ford plant. The pony still fires right up and purrs through the gears all the way up to cruising speed. The current owner has only ever driven the vehicle to local shows and the occasional trip to get ice cream. With an interesting back story, a popular nameplate, and a major anniversary, this limited production American classic has all the ingredients to make a future-classic. Options include: Air-Conditioning, AM/FM/Cassette, Power Convertible Top, Cruise Control, Lumbar Support, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Windows, Seat Belts, Drivers Airbag, Leather Interior, Alloy Wheels, and a Numbers Matching Interior.
