For Sale: 1979 Mercedes-Benz 280SE in Fairmont City, Illinois
For sale in our Chicago showroom is this classic 1979 Mercedes-Benz 280SE. This model was the start of the “S” class Mercedes known for its innovation in both safety and technology, including crumple zones technology as well as air bags. This particular model is powered by the 2.8l inline-6 engine through an automatic transmission. The inline 6 cylinder produced by Mercedes were known for durability and many of these cars are still on the road with many having had the odometer turned over several times. The introduction of these fine German engineered sedans began direct competition with Cadillac and Lincoln and were sometimes more expensive. The suspension is soft, but sporty, and creates a smooth, enjoyable ride. Vintage Mercedes Benz automobiles are known for a sturdy and heavy feel while driving and this one is no exception. The car has never seen snow, and the paint shows it. Most examples of this car have been lost to rust, while this example is still driving with only 78,886 actual miles on the odometer. The interior on this example is finished with tan and orange plaid cloth in lieu of leather and still looks fantastic. Options include; AM/FM radio with Cassette, Hub caps, Power brakes, Power steering, Power sunroof, Cloth interior, and Radial tires.
