Vehicle Description
We could try to lie and tell you that this 1965 Chevrolet C10 is
perfect to haul your Home Deport run, but really you know that this
was only meant to haul one thing. With a supercharged big block V8,
tubbed rear wheels, and race-ready interior, there is no cooler or
faster pickup for the money out there.
Ok, one look at this Chevy and everyone instantly knows it's a mean
street machine. The large air grabber with the butterfly valves,
huge rear tires, roll cage mounted in the bed, and aggressive
lowered stance are instant indications that this pickup wants to go
fast. But take a moment to look at the fundamentals, too. The dark
black paint has a mirror-like appearance that rivals for shine with
the bumpers and Boyd Coddington continuation alloy wheels. This is
a total package where the full sweeping side trim is not only
complete, but it introduces a nice bold teal, too. This color is
repeated on the tailgate lettering and butterfly valves for a very
thoughtful uniform appearance. And that's not the only place you'll
find it...
Open the door to where the colors have swapped where the teal is
the primary and black is used for the accents. But the full uniform
appearance is not what first caught your eye about this interior.
Racing bucket seats, full roll cage, and a Hurst Quarter Stick
shifter immediately greet you and let you know it's time to get
down to business. Slip behind the grippy Grant three-spoke steering
wheel, and you'll gaze at nothing but polished dash panels and a
complete set of AutoMeter gauges. It's about right now that you
realize this is the wildest ride you can ever hang a license plate
off the back.
You already knew that there was something powerful under the hood,
but you don't understand just how wicked it is until you actually
see the engine bay. A special tubular frame was created to add
strength and contain this beastly V8. It's a 454 cubic-inch big
block that has been bored .30 over. It has been fortified for
combat with square port heads, roller rockers, comp hydraulic
blower, cam dish blower pistons, and dual Quick Fuel four-barrel
carburetors. Oh yeah, and there's also a Weiand supercharger to
makes sure this is the king of big power big blocks. This V8 is
backed up by the right components like a Howe aluminum radiator,
electric fan, braided steel hoses, and MSD ignition. And just in
case the sight of this V8 didn't indicate to everyone the superior
power of this monster motor, the rumble of the header-fed side
exhaust certainly will. Making sure the power gets to ground is a
stout TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with a 3,500 RPM
stall. This feeds a Ford 9-inch rear running 4.10 gears, which is
ideal for power take offs. But the traction upgrades don't end
there. The triangulated four-link coilover rear help keep those
massive 31x18.5 Mickey Thompson tires on the ground (it also helps
the fuel cell was moved over the rear for more traction.) Plus,
there's power steering and four-wheel disc brakes to keep you the
master of this beastly Chevy.
Complete with the little things like the owner's manual, you can
tell someone really went into the details with this build. So when
