After the widely successful run of the Lamborghini Countach, Lamborghini stepped up to the plate with another stellar and exclusive exotic car. This car would be called the Diablo, a name that is said to pay homage to a fierce fighting bull from the 19th century. In 1992, at the Geneva Auto Show, Lamborghini exhibited and roadster prototype of the Diablo. But it took three more years before the roadster option would be available for purchase. The “new” 1995 VT Roadster was now fitted new cosmetic features and an all-wheel-drive system. A front-end lifting system was added to the Lamborghini Diablos in 1996. This feature was innovative and allowed the front end to race two inches providing additional clearance for driving convenience.

From 1993 to 1998 it is estimated that 400 Diablo VT’s were produced. And from 1995 to 1998, it is estimated that only 200 VT Roadsters, like this example, were produced.

The Diablo presented here is finished eloquently in the very desirable color of Rossa Diablo Red. The exterior is tailored with aluminum alloy wheels and a factory rear wing. The hardtop is made with carbon fiber panel that is easily removed and safely stored in the rear engine decklid. The interior is trimmed with Snowcorn leather upholstery that is accented with red piping throughout. The cabin also features red carpet, air conditioning, a gated shifter and factory airbags.

Powering this Italian supercar is a 5.7-liter V-12 mid-longitudinal engine with 492 brake horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. The drivetrain consists of an all-wheel-drive system and a five-speed manual gearbox. The chassis has independent front and rear double wishbone suspension, coil springs, anti-squat, anti-rollbar with anti-dive; and electronic shock absorbers with automatic and manual control. This combined engineering allows the car to reach 60-mph in just 4.0-seconds and 100-mph in 14.6-seconds.

This Diablo is reported to be “Carfax certified one-owner miles,” and the distance traveled accumulates to a mere 4,700 miles that are believed to be original. This Diablo retains its books, keys and original window sticker. The Diablo is said to look and drive as new; ultimately this car is still in the bubble. The desirability of this car is exemplified by the much loved color combination, low mileage and the extremely low production numbers.
