1966 Buick Electra 225 Thin-pillar Sedan in St. Louis, Missouri
Very sharp, all original 41,000 mile example! Super solid, and
fully optioned with air conditioning, power windows, power seat,
power steering & brakes, tilt steering wheel, door edge guards, and
more! A super example of Buick's "Fully Tuned" vehicle and
considered the best of 1966! The Buick Electra was introduced to
the public in 1959 and carried the brand through 1990 replacing the
Roadmaster and Limited models upon introduction. The 225 moniker
was added to represent the 225 inch length of the car overall,
earning the nickname "deuce and a quarter" by enthusiasts. With
styling changes over its 30 year run, it was 1965 when the chassis
design went to a perimeter frame, exiting the traditional x-frame
used from 1961. This made for a lighter car, and the need for
additional tuning to the suspension. For 1966, the entire
advertising promotion lead with the Electra being emphasized as the
"Tuned Buick"; tuned performance, tuned ride, tuned handling, and
most importantly, tuned styling! It would be the final year of the
ever popular Buick Wildcat 401ci Nailhead V8 engine as well. These
cars represent a unique era in Buick production, and are among the
best years for mid-1960's American car collectors. Class, style,
power, and comfort all rolled into one! We are delighted to offer
this 1966 Buick Electra 225 Thin-pillar 4-door sedan finished in
factory code correct Astro Blue over all original Blue cloth/vinyl
combination interior! These sedans are unique by showcasing its
structural soundness with a small pillar between the front & rear
doors, leaving the four windows on each door absent of a
traditional frame, a very unique feature among 4-door sedans.
Standard features on any Electra included the Wildcat V8 producing
325 horsepower and 445 ft. lbs. of torque, Super Turbine 3-speed
automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and
additional safety items such as padded dash, reverse lights, front
& rear seatbelts, 2-speed windshield wipers with washer system, and
more! You will find additional optional equipment on our vehicle to
include air conditioning, tilt steering column, power windows,
8-way power seat, Sonomatic AM radio with power antenna, interior
courtesy lights, glove box light, day/night rearview mirror, all
Soft-Ray tinted glass, door edge guards, and fender skirts. Our
wonderful example survives with all original LOF window glass, all
original body panels, all original interior carpet & seating
upholstery, original trunk equipment, and all factory chrome &
trim. Showing only 41,589 actual miles, this Electra continues to
run and drive with exceptional ease! We have taken the liberty to
recently change the oil & oil filter, replace the air conditioning
compressor clutch, convert the a/c system to R134a refrigerant,
replace all door window glass weather stripping, under hood
insulation, and other various items to freshen this 50 year old
collector worthy sedan. We have fully detailed the engine
compartment for obvious reasons to match the exterior and interior
appearance, all proudly presentable for local shows while remaining
driver friendly and original. Having driven the car regularly here
in St. Louis, we are confident in the cars ability to do exactly as
asked. It provides cold a/c, fully operational power accessories,
and excellent road manners in all city and highway environments.
For full disclosure, the factory clock & radio areno longer
functional, although the power antenna is functional. We hope to
find a Buick enthusiast excited to own a solid, low mileage Electra
225 absolutely ready to enjoy! Please call with any questions or to
schedule an opportunity to view in person. Thanks for looking!
