Vehicle Description
1969 Plymouth GTX
This is one of the finest Mopars we have ever had in the
shop...period. To inspect the car for a third party, I would rate
it at just under Concours condition and that is being pretty
critical. We are continuing to knock off the small little details
here at the shop to make it a full #1 rated vehicle. From a
rareness standpoint, it is off the radar special and we have been
unable to find one just like it anywhere. The car has been Galen
Govier document certified and registered. All of the original
paperwork including the broadcast sheet are in great condition and
also go with the car. This is a fully documented (with pictures)
frame-off restoration on an all numbers matching '69 GTX with a
rare set of options. While there are a lot of bucket seat, 4-speed
Roadrunners and Belvederes (which this was based on) out there, the
"executive" GTX was most commonly outfitted with a bench seat and
column shift. There are not many out the optioned like this and
even less, if any (for sale), in this color combination. I won't
list everything that is new or replaced because everything has been
from the top down. There were only a little more than 17,000 ever
produced in 1969 and only a fraction remain.
The vehicle is powered by its completely rebuilt 440ci Super
Commando motor pulling 375 horsepower with 4-barrel carburetor
through an Air Grabber hood. That is linked to a rare, perfect
shifting 4-speed transmission with a period correct Hurst pistol
grip shifter. This is one of the things that keeps it from Concours
condition. This is a great shifter for the car but should you
desire it, we will include and install the correct round ball and
shaft with the sale. The stock rear end is a Dana 60 Sure-Grip with
a 3:54.1 gear ratio.
The exterior is a frame-off restoration with every nut, bolt and
clamp restored or replaced. It was taken down to bare steel and
repaired where needed with same. An immaculate two-tone paint job
was applied in the car's original colors, Frost Green (which
appears silver except in direct sunlight when the faint green
appears) and matte black. We do have the white stripe to apply on
the rear of the car and will apply it for the new owner as part of
the deal if wanted as well. The car sits on the original 15?
Magnums with period correct, brand new Firestone bias tires
complete with red walls.
The interior is all original and done in a rare white. It is just
as it rolled of the showroom floor with everything restored or
replaced from the headliner down to the carpet. Even the rear
ashtrays are intact and like new. The center console, which is
typically difficult to get right, is just as it would have been.
Again, we will install the correct Hurst shifter with ball, should
you desire the car to have that, as opposed to the current pistol
grip. The car is equipped with all of the working gauges, including
the tachometer, in the dash right in front of the driver behind the
wood grain steering wheel. It was also factory equipped with an
AM/8-track player both of which work perfectly. Don't miss your
opportunity to add this rare car to your collection.
This is truly one of the finest GTX's left in existence and we are
proud to offer it for sale at $79,900.00
NOW REDUCED DOWN TO $69,900.00!
