One of only 2,747 Porsche 911S Targa's produced from August 1976 to July 1977. Production date was December 1976. Very original example with books, took kit, jack and records. Originally finished in Silver Metallic with Black Leatherette. Exceptionally straight body with beautiful paint. Excellent mechanical condition, very powerful and fun to drive! 2.7-liter (175 horse power) with Bosch K-Jetronic CIS (Continuous Fuel Injection) four wheel disc brakes and 5-speed manual 915 transmission. Solid original floor pans and front suspension. Very desirable 911S that is a time warp to drive with low miles!
History 911 and 911S 2.7 (1973–1977) Model year 1974 (G Series. Aug. 1973 to July 1974 production) Model year 1975 (H Series. Aug. 1974 to July 1975 production) Model year 1976 (J Series. Aug. 1975 to July 1976 production) Model year 1977 (K Series. Aug. 1976 to July 1977 production) There were three significant changes. First, the engine size was increased to 2687 cc (2.7-liter) achieving higher torque. Second, new impact bumpers conformed with low-speed protection requirements of US regulations. Thirdly, the use of K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection in two of the three models in the line up - the 911 and 911S models, retaining the narrow rear arches of the old 2.4, now had a 2.7-litre engine producing 150 PS (110 kW; 150 hp) and 175 PS (129 kW; 173 hp), respectively.
Model year 1976 (J Series. Aug. 1975 to July 1976 production) In 1976 the hand throttle was eliminated after the equipment of the vacuum-controlled warm-up regulator on the K-injection fuel injection. The folding Targa top again became standard equipment. The 911S was the only U.S. model besides the Turbo. For the first time, Porsche offered a six-year warranty against rust because the bodies were built of galvanized steel.
In the engine bay a 5-blade engine-cooling fan was replaced with 11-blade unit on all cars except for the Turbos.
Outside mirrors were painted the same as the body color and were electronically controlled. All cars were fitted with electric speedometers. The 911S was fitted with it A-type cast-iron front brake calipers that had the same pad size as the alloy S calipers.
Pricing Turbo cost $25,850 in the United States. A 911S was priced at $13,845 in the Targa version was priced at $14,795
