For Sale: 1988 Jaguar XJS in Southampton, New York

The XJS was first introduced in 1975 as only a fixed-head coupe. The handling and performance of the vehicle led to requests to the factory in Coventry to produce a convertible version for both home and export markets. With the development of the new HE cylinder head, the demand only increased. For customers in the USA, Jaguar decided to contract the Cincinnati, Ohio company of Hess and Eisenhardt to build convertible coachwork for coupes delivered direct from the UK factory. This commenced in 1986, and several hundred were built until re-tooling of a new floor pan and convertible bodywork began to be produced by the Jaguar factory. This single-owner vehicle was purchased from Westchester Jaguar by a local Doctor. She was a notable Army surgeon, serving in the Vietnam War and then in New York hospitals. The car was a great favorite of hers and she took care of it, only using it during the summer months.
