Vehicle Description
1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II, light blue, automatic, 72,680 miles, electric seat bench, electric windows... It is a good runner and has been on the road for last few months - has re-manufactured brake booster, rebuilt carburetor, new front brakes, new rear wheel cylinders, new coolant hoses, new headliner... Most of the gauges work (speedometer, temperature, battery, RPM...), clock and radio work as well. It needs new upholstery minus headliner. The paint job from older restoration is still shiny but has started to show signs of its age. I don't know too much about the car history - couple of previous owners are shown at Mark II owners database. Overall, this is a good starting point for somebody that wants to fully restore this rare car or the car can be driven as is. Price: $18,000 obo. Tel: 604-728-4816
Little bit of history:
"A styling masterpiece, Ford Motor's largely hand-built 1956-57 Continental Mark II is one of the most outstanding cars ever built in America. The limited-production Mark II two-door coupe was built under the direction of 26-year-old William Clay Ford, who was Henry Ford II's younger brother. The younger Ford was put in charge of a new "Continental Division," which came up with the Mark II. The new Mark II price was around $10,000, the equivalent of a new Rolls-Royce or two Cadillacs. Merely 2,550 were built for 1956 and 444 for 1957. Famous owners included Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, the Shah of Iran, and a cross section of the richest men in America..."
