Bentley Series 1 Continental Park Ward Drophead Coupe This delightful Bentley was ordered new in 1958 as one of just 50 RHD Series 1 Continental Drophead Coupes and came equipped from the factory with power operated hood, power steering and radio. Handed over from the coach builders Park Ward to H R Owen on July 30th it was then delivered to its first owner, a Mrs Herbert Jenkins of Lady Cross Lodge, Brockenhurst, Hampshire. Mrs Jenkins retained the car for just 18 months before selling it back through Jack Barclay’s of London to a Mr Gilbert Luck who part exchanged a Bentley Standard Saloon along with £1000 for the Drophead. Unlike its first owner, Mr Luck obviously saw the Bentley as a car to keep long-term and he only relinquished possession, and then only to his son, in 2013, some 52 years later. Over the duration of Mr Luck's ownership the Bentley was used regularly but carefully and had only registered some 65,000 miles by 2014. In contrast maintenance bills on file add up to in excess of £47,000, which testifies to the cherished ownership the car has enjoyed over its long life.
