Vehicle Description
NOW SOLD Factory VIN # of 51461 stamping in trunk floor matches A pillar tag of Reutter coach works, documented by Porsche certificate of authenticity. This very rare early production coupe is one of only 1,363 built & just 573 imported to the U.S.A. by Max Hoffman of N.Y. who also imported the first Mercedes gullwing coupes to the U.S. This very significant & historically important car has never been restored & importantly still retains its original floor & trunk pans, also noteworthy is the fact this car has the "bent windshield"peaked at center but no divider bar only on 1952-1954 models. Other unique features are the banjo style steering wheel, visor, gauges & chromed metal framed sun visors. The original 1300 c.c. motor has been replaced with a 1600 c.c. 60 hp, normal 1960 vintage #604-165. A very attractive example in its present state to drive as is & with rarely seen restored cars selling at 250-350k there appears to be a generous margin to bring this magnificent little car to the next level. Offered at $126,000, interesting trades considered.
