2002 Ford Saleen Mustang S281-Extreme Speedster in Grayslake, Illinois

Offered here is a 2002 Saleen Speedster S281-Extreme showing only 791 one owner miles on the odometer. As any Saleen aficionado well knows, very few Extreme Speedsters were produced. This one of only 20 fitted with a 425 horsepower Saleen built S281E Engine. Unlike the stock Ford motor featured in the S281-SC, the S281E engine was machined and up-fitted for severe race duty by Saleen.

The MSRP tipped the scales at $70,637.00 in 2002, or 30% more than the Corvette Z06 offered the same year. The dollars went to racecar engineering and fine tuning prep for a car that was more than track capable, the Extreme was track ready right off the showroom floor. This particular example is signed by Steve Saleen himself, on the glove box. The overall condition is a near to new a 15 year old car can be. The most notable blem can be found on the passenger side fender call out (see photo). The owner has a pair of NOS fender callouts that you can keep or install as you see fit.
