Upon introduction, the Ferrari Testarossa was admired and desired by many. Featured on the cover of Road & Track magazine, weekly television exposure on the popular “Miami Vice” and owned by rock stars to race drivers; the Testarossa was and remains a coveted piece of Italian hardware. With only 7,177 reported as being built from 1984 to 1991; this Ferrari will undoubtedly retain its exclusiveness.
The 4.9-liter, DOHC flat twelve-cylinder coupe registered a top speed of 180-mph. Its flat-12 design features two banks of six horizontally-opposed cylinders, 48 valves and dry-sump oil system. Bosch's latest K-Jetronic fuel-injection improved power and drivability; with 390 horsepower available, the Testarossa was capable of sprinting to 60-mph in 5.4-seconds. The Ferrari has a five-speed manual gearbox in a rear-mounted transaxle, four-wheel independent suspension with unequal-length A-arms, coil springs and anti-roll bars and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.
This stunning and highly collectible 1989 Ferrari Testarossa is finished in Sera Blue Metallic on a Grigio Scuro (light gray) leather interior. This is a very special Testarossa that is reported as “all original” and has been given a recent major service including timing belts, water pump rebuild, air conditioning system service and much more. The owner reports that there is over $25,000 in receipts for a major service completed in late 2015 along with a list of receipts documenting everything that has been serviced on the car since new.
Along with the promise of high speed motoring and handling abilities; the Pininfarina-designed Testarossa has all the attributes that marked it as special from day-one. Besides the distinctive and functional side strakes, the car is known for its wide stance, five-spoke factory alloy wheels and very functional, yet well-appointed cockpit that has luxuries like power-operated seats, power windows, remote deck releases and Veglia analog instrumentation; the Testarossa has the aura of sound that only a 12-cylinder Ferrari can produce. This is a very rare find and will make a wonderful addition to any collection.
