For Sale: 1978 Oldsmobile Omega in Concord, North Carolina
STK 2184 1978 Oldsmobile Omega
The ‘4-4-2’ was a muscle car package that was first introduced by Oldsmobile in 1964 as an option package on the F-85 compact. The name ‘4-4-2’ was derived from the car's four-barrel carb, four-speed manual transmission and dual exhausts. Shortly thereafter an automatic transmission option was added, but the “4-4-2” badging remained unchanged. Our 1978 resto-mod Omega coupe is based on that early 4-4-2 concept. The lightweight X-body is now powered by Chevy’s long-stroke 400 small-block, a serious torque-monster like the Olds 455. This engine was totally rebuilt with performance upgrades. The intake system was enhanced with an Edelbrock Performer aluminum manifold and 750cfm Edelbrock carburetor. A serpentine belt system and dual electric fans handle cooling requirements. Exhaust is routed through full tube headers and a free-flow exhaust. This stout small-block is backed by GM’s bulletproof Turbo 400 transmission and a 10-bolt differential with 3.73:1 gears. This is not Grandpa’s Oldsmobile. The body was refinished in Tuxedo Black (2010) and the interior nicely reupholstered in black/red vinyl with comfortable bucket seats and a custom console that houses a powerful Kenwood CD stereo system. This Omega has all of the comfort/safety features including: power steering, power disc/drum brakes, A/C, tinted windows, custom tilt wheel and 8-way power seats. For a true muscle-car stance, the Omega sports period-correct American Racing wheels and Cooper Cobra radial tires. Come take a close look at this unique “4-4-2 Concept” Omega. This clever ‘sleeper’ is a lot of performance for the money. Call 800-650-1055 or visit www.autobarnclassiccars.com for additional information. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
