Vehicle Description
When you run into something this unique and affordable, your
imagination starts to go into overdrive. This 1966 Morris Mini
Panel Van has a cool look on the outside, custom comfort on the
inside, and original motor under the hood. So it seems like the
perfect vehicle to do everything from be the support vehicle for
you British exotic to just being a fun presentation all on its
own.
If you're British, then this is a pure nostalgia machine (and if
you're not this is just a very cool presentation.) The Morris Royal
Mail van is as engrained in the UK culture just as deeply as the
Jeep is in ours. But as you get closer to this panel van, you can
instantly tell it's not some ex-service vehicle. The red has a high
gloss shine that's a direct result of a large investment in
restoration. The bumpers have added luster, the windows have a dark
tint, and the rear hatch doors line up nicely. So while this might
say Royal Mail on the side (the decal is removable,) it was also
given the royal treatment to look this good.
While these panel vans were built to be utilitarian, this one adds
flair on top of its function. The cargo area has been laid out with
the kind of flooring that attracts attention all on its own, but
it's also durable enough to carry everything from car parts to
promotional goods. The dual gray cloth bucket seats make the most
of the passenger space with their high-backed comfort, and the red
piping gives it a sporty appearance as it matches the dash and door
color. It's a similar story with the piping on the black carpets.
The controls are laid out nicely for driving with a grippy
three-spoke steering wheel, gearshift that's always in easy reach,
and a cool Smiths gauge package with large central speedo.
Under the hood is a 998cc motor that is original to the car (per
the consignor.) There are only about 7K miles on this British
classic since restoration, and so all the belts, wires, and hoses
still look quite fresh. This A-Series motor is a well-known and
widely used powerplant that found a home in plenty of British
vehicles. It's part of the backbone of English motoring, which
makes it quite hardy and easy parts availability. When matched with
the four-speed manual transmission, the performance can be quite
nippy. Add in front disc brakes and steering that is so exact it
feels telepathic, and you've got in your hands all the reasons why
people are passionate about driving - even in a van!
It's a rarity to see a Morris Mini Van in the USA. But more than
just unique, the restoration photobook will show you this is a
cut-above classic. So at this price, you know you have to act
quickly to take home the coolest Mini-van around. Call today!!!
