The stylish 1959 Ford Thunderbird was built at a time when
visionary designers imagined the future bringing flying cars with
bullet noses and pointy tail fins. Then, dealership showrooms
looked more like Autorama custom car showcases. That same year,
Ford promoted their sleek newly redesigned T-Bird as "The car
everyone would love to own." Offering two models - a hardtop and
convertible - Ford again was off and running. While many Ford
aficionados still get teary eyed thinking about the passing of the
iconic First Generation 1955-'57 two-passenger models, the 1959's
found their way into consumers hearts and garages offering new
luxury and performance benchmarks for Ford. With now more interior
(backseat added) and trunk space the Second Generation (1958-1960)
Thunderbird became more versatile overall and that drove up sales.
(From 1958-'59 Ford stayed with the same body shape and made only a
few slight modifications such as a horizontal bar grille which is
duplicated in the small grilles behind the taillights and white
