1973 Porsche Carrera RS

In 1973 a pair of brothers from Mexico City ordered two brand new, highly optioned Porsche 911 Carrera RSs, one in black (0578) and one in light ivory (0599.) Both cars were ordered with a host of factory options including air conditioning, electric sunroof, and electric windows. These would be two of only three RSs ever delivered to Mexico. The story goes that the two brothers were killed in a plane crash before the cars were delivered. The family then took possession of the RSs and kept them in memory of the two men.
Around 2005 the black RS was purchased by an American collector and brought into the United States through Texas. Although the car was extremely original and had only 36k kilometers on the odometer it was decided to do a complete restoration to preserve the car for the next 40 years.
Willhoit Auto Restoration would be entrusted with the restoration, and did the bodywork and paint on the car. The car was stripped down to its tub and found to be in amazing physical condition. Accident and rust free, it needed only minimal help to be brought into concours condition. This car's condition is a rarity among the RSs, considering that many drivers abused the limits of these amazing cars on the road and on the track. The original interior was restored by Autos International.
All the mechanicals were addressed by Scott Hendry of Scott's Independent. Every system was restored including the engine, transmission, suspension, oil system, fuel system, brakes, and air conditioning. The engine had never been apart, and its condition became a guide for all of Hendry's future restorations. The rare A/C system is all-original including the compressor and all the hoses.
Noted Carrera RS expert, Nate Cantwell, advised and assisted on the restoration that both Willhoit and Hendry consider extremely correct and representative of their best work.
