Nice very early Series II E-type coupe that has been owned for nearly twenty years by an officer of the Jaguar Club. While not as sought-after as a Series I, the II is actually a nicer car to drive with its more comfortable seats, synchro 1st gear and better cooling. In addition to the improvements Jaguar engineered into these later cars, this one has had an oversized aluminum radiator and electric fan added for worry-free summer driving. Speaking of summer driving, this car has AIR CONDITIONING! Rare factory evaporator installation fits neatly under the dash and has been upgraded with a modern Sankyo compressor. Professionally repainted red to replace its original white color, the finish is quite nice over an undamaged and solid monocoque body. However, there is some of the typical rust returning in the bottoms of the doors.
The black leather interior was restored some years ago and is well-patinaed now, all instruments work well—even the clock!—and the car comes with a lengthy service & maintenance history. The chrome wire wheels are in excellent condition with stainless steel spokes and recent tires. Although the car has a correct Series II XKE engine with USA-spec 9:1 compression, it is not the original unit.
If you are looking for a nice driver-quality E-Type and don’t wish to spend the better part of $100,000, this is a car that should top your short list. Price has just been significantly reduced to reflect the non-correct engine and minor rust.
