Vehicle Description
STK 2175 1965 Chevrolet Corvette
Chevrolet introduced the original Stringray in 1963, the year of the ‘Split-Window’ coupe. During the five years of C3 production, GM never built one like this. Our 1965 Stringray convertible is a perfect example of a mechanically upgraded classic. The restoration was painstakingly completed over 10 years. The straight body has good gaps all around and a nice Silver re-spray. The red leather interior has been restored to look original and is in very good condition. The soft-top fabric, window and frame are all in good condition. There is also a hardtop included with the car that will require refurbishing. Under the hood, what is believed to be the factory 327 received a complete professional rebuild including new valves w/hardened valve seats, hydraulic street cam (similar to 327/350hp specs), Edelbrock Performer manifold and Summit double-pumper (Holley-style) carb with braided fuel lines. It sounds great through original-style side pipes. Electric fans cool a high-volume aluminum radiator and the distributor is an HEI unit. This motor is backed by a fully synchronized Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Original posi-traction rear gearing (3.08:1) was replaced by a 3.73:1 unit. The Stingray has power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes. The front suspension has been converted to a transverse leaf spring from Vette Brakes/Products, a design very similar to that used on the C4 Corvette. Handling and overall performance is vastly improved over the stock set-up. BFGoodrich Radial T/As are mounted on period-correct American 15” 5-spoke alloy wheels. If you are looking for a trailer queen, look elsewhere. If you want a runner, come take a look - you will not be disappointed.
