Extremely high level, frame-on restoration of a solid 1955 Olds 88 Holiday coupe. Exceptional condition both inside and out. All the bright work, stainless, chrome and pot metal has been restored back to its original luster. The paint is equally amazing. Powered by a 324 CID 'Rocket' V8, which is running with an automatic transmission. Power steering, power brakes, factory radio, two-tone paint and continental kit all complete the vehicle! An impressive amount of provenance and documentation come with the vehicle, including the original conditional sales contract, sold by Leo Rule Oldsmobile in Compton, California, along with registration(s), repair invoices, etc. In addition, it was discovered via our inspection that the engine had a lower end issue. We performed a major engine overhaul including disassembling the block completely. Block, heads and crankshaft were sent out to a machine shop. Block was cleaned, crack checked and line bored. The cylinders had been bored and honed to .040 oversized. The cylinder heads have been cracked checked and machined. Both heads have new valves, springs, valve guides and seals. New freeze plugs have been installed in both the block and heads. Block was then put on stand to start the rebuild process. Assembled new style rings on new .040 oversized pistons, connected pistons to connecting rods with new wrist pins and snap rings. Installed pistons into the block. Installed polished crankshaft into the block with new bearings which have been plasti gauged to specs. Torqued down rod and main caps to specs. Installed new camshaft bearings and new camshaft, new timing gear set with new timing chain. Rebuilt engine oil pump, primed and installed. Installed new rear main seal, rebuilt cylinder heads and torqued to specs. Rebuilt rocker arm shafts with new rocker arms, installed new lifters, new water pump and repaired engine oil pan and painted to specs. Sandblasted all external engine parts including intake manifold. Assembled engine to complete finish and painted engine and all parts to specs. Blasted exhaust manifolds and painted to spec. Installed manifolds with new studs. All gaskets and seals are new. Installed new plugs, wires, distributor with new points and wiring to coil. Repaired wiring to generator and ignition wires to coil and resistor. Rebuilt carburetor and adjusted, timed engine, adjusted all carb, throttle and transmission linkage to specs. Flushed radiator and heater core, new thermostat and coolant temp sender. Transmission was also removed and disassembled the valve body and polished up sticking shift valves. Installed new pan gasket, side cover gasket with new side shift seal. Installed new torque converter seal and touros cover seals. It would be very difficult to find one as nice as this and the car now drives like an absolute dream.
